The investment relations people at Global Crossing (www.globalcrossing.com) have to be crazy-busy this week. Just before announcing its third quarter 2010 results, the company announced it was acquiring global video services provider Genesis Networks. Global Crossing is picking up Genesis for about $27 million, including covering $15 million in debt. Genesis is described [...] Dialogic (www.dialogic.com) and Veriz Networks have completed their merger. Now that Dialogic is still, well, Dialogic, but with a new NASDAQ ticker symbol, it’ll be interesting to see what CEO/Chairman of the Board Nick Jensen and company do in the next 12 to 24 months. It’ll also be interesting to look at the financials [...] A number of analysts I ran into last week were coming fresh from the GENBAND (www.genband.com) Perspectives Media and Analyst Summit held in Frisco Texas. One aspect of the event was apparently laying out a case for a IPO in the near future. Most analysts I talked to felt that GENBAND had paid [...] If you haven’t been watching Rochester, New York for a while, it might be time to start. PAETEC (www.paetec.com) has signed a merger agreement to acquire privately-held Cavalier Telephone Corporation (a Metaswitch customer – next week will be interesting…). In comments reported in the Wall Street Journal, PAETEC could play the role of [...] M&A in the IP communications world is picking up, as two different activities take place this month within the broadband space. On May 21, wireless business broadband provider Sparkplug Communications (www.sparkplug.net) picked up assets from MetroBridge Networks. Scottsdale, Arizona-based Sparkplug is acquiring certain MetroBridge assets, including all of its Phoenix Arizona operations – customer [...] The economy must be getting back to normal – Dialogic (www.dialogic.com) is “merging” with publicly-traded Veraz Networks. Once the deal closes, the name of the final entity will be Dialogic. Back in December, I was interviewed by TMC CEO Rich Tehrani and made a bunch of predictions, but I have to say that I missed the onslaught of deal making that’s now happening, (Did get the part about Social media and geo-location right, however…) [...] Having bought up every other VoIP apps company it could get its hands on, BroadSoft is in the process of acquiring privately-held QoS monitoring firm Packet Island. Hmmm… BroadSoft says the acquisition is being made to address “the critical need” for ensuring QoS and QoE (quality of experience) for real-time (i.e. phone and video) [...] |
