XConnect forms peering federation in South Africa

XConnect (www.xconnect.com) has announced it is forming an IP-Peering federation for South Africa.

Under the partnership, a multilateral peering federation will be established for operators to exchange “advanced VoIP” and next generation network peering capabilities via an in-country hub.  The federation will provide a simple, cost-effective means for exchanging traffic within South Africa and globally.

The release highlights multimedia connections and specifically video, so it looks like participants should be able to move around both HD voice and video seamlessly through the federation.
